“The Little Drummer Boy” has always moved me. Maybe you’ve heard it recently on the Christmas radio station or holiday playlists. Whenever I hear it, it puts me right in this young person’s shoes, swept up with the wise men and visiting the newborn baby Jesus. Here’s the heart of that song, without all the drumbeat rum pum pum pums.

Little baby, I am a poor boy too.
I have no gift to bring that’s fit to give a King.
Shall I play for you on my drum?

As Advent leans toward Christmas, and as Zion invites us to consider our financial gifts for 2026, I can’t help but feel myself right there. Humbled by God’s incredible love in Christ. Offering not what is proper but what I have. And then exalted by Jesus’s gentle smile.

Who among us has gifts fit for this King? The promise of this little carol is, we all do. You and what you offer are enough. And it's generous, kindly love like this that makes me want to give even more.

If you haven’t already, give prayerful, heartfelt consideration to your 2026 gifts to Jesus. Then, complete and return the 2026 Estimate of Giving form. You may do that with a hardcopy card and envelope, placed in the offering basket. Or you may complete the form online: ziondavenport.org/givingestimate

Thank you, and thanks be to God.
