Since before I was your pastor, Zion has generally alternated its worship leadership. One Sunday, the organ leads worship; the next, the ensemble's voices, keyboard, and guitar. That will change this spring, only because of our organist's availability. So you will notice a handful of ensemble-led Sundays, followed by a handful of organ-led Sundays, with a piano-led Sunday in the mix too. Zion is blessed with so many talented musicians!

Anticipating this change to our normal pattern, I remember one congregation. Their worship was led by a variety of musicians and instruments and worship styles, with no set or published pattern of who led when. As worship began, the pastor would stand and welcome everyone, saying something like, "It's the Second Sunday of Easter. The jazz quartet is leading worship today. We know jazz is not everyone's cup of tea, but we praise God anyway because we know..."

And the congregation would respond in one voice: "It's not about us!" -PC
