Renewed Covenant between Kirangare Lutheran Parish and Zion Lutheran Church

In celebration of 25 years of companionship and to give shape and direction to the next 25 years of our journey as partners in the mission of God as revealed in Jesus Christ, we accept the following covenantal agreements:

  1. In the kingdom of God, the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. And Bishop Josiah Kibira, past president of the Lutheran World Federation, said, “There is no church, so big and so rich, that it wouldn't depend on the gifts of others; there is no church so small and so poor it wouldn't be able to enrich others." So we will be bold in sharing and humble in receiving the gifts God has given us to give to each other.
  2. We will pray for each other at every opportunity, especially in worship.
  3. Person-to-person relationships are the foundation of our partnership in mission. In every possible way, we will foster such relationships–for example, visits and communication between pastors, church leaders, church councils and committees, men's and women's groups or young people.
  4. We will learn more about the congregation, city, state and country in which our partner congregation lives and serves.
  5. We will help each other in this endeavor by sharing life, news, and information through cards and letters, email and WhatsApp, photos and videos, and any other means available.
  6. As we share with one another about our current and evolving ministries, we will invite one another to participate as fully as possible in the life of our faith community.
  7. Whenever possible, we will encourage the people of Kirangare Lutheran Parish to visit Iowa and the people of Zion Lutheran Church to visit Tanzania.

We do this to the glory of God!
