With financial support from Zion, Kirangare Lutheran Parish has begun construction of a large cistern to hold rain water. The project is located at the Mpare preaching point, behind the church building. When completed, gutters and downspouts on the building will direct rainwater into the cistern. The water will then be used to irrigate a church garden. Sale of produce will generate income for the church. The water may also be used to irrigate neighbors' crops or for a small fishery.
The following video is from September 2024, when Zion travelers visited the construction site, learned about the project, and participated in a blessing.
